Sage UK: Caring for Small Businesses

18 March 2011

Almost two years ago, we had the opportunity to interact with Sage UK, the large multi-national, business software corporation. Using Twitter, Sage UK started a conversation with our director, Liam Dempsey, chatting about our pending purchase of new Sage Instant Accounts software. We were very impressed by Sage UK’s attention to detail, and in particular, how the very big company was listening to and engaging with our very small company.

Since we started using Sage’s Instant Accounts to manage our book keeping efforts, Sage UK has been supportive and helpful. Yes, the product is great, but what constantly impresses us is that whenever we need a bit of advice or assistance, Sage’s tech team is there. Did I mention that lbdesign owns only a single license of Sage Instant Accounts? Yet, Sage UK still cares about us.

A number of months ago, Sage UK asked us if we would be interested in being featured as a case study on its new website. We were thrilled to be given the opportunity to do so. Liam explained his thinking:

Sage’s software is a solid product and I would be happy to promote them on the back of that alone. Yet for lbdesign, Sage’s true value is in its attention to detail: the way the company speaks with and listens to small businesses has been hugely beneficial to our company. I am always telling people how good Sage is.

Earlier this week, Sage UK launched a beta version of that new website. In reviewing the site, we were keen to cast our critical ‘design eyes’ over it. We were excited by the new site – very easy to use, with quick access to a range of information, services and guides. Excellent use of icons makes navigating the expansive site simple.

It is with pleasure that we find ourselves noting another success for Sage UK. We certainly look forward to continuing to call Sage our business software company of choice.
